Let's start with the bottom line. Thanks to Chris, we sold our house in two days for $46,000 over asking. What a way to kick off the holidays!

We discovered Chris through another agent who brought him on-board because of his experience and outstanding sales record in dealing with properties similar to our house. We were selling a large Victorian house, over 100 years old, and from the moment he saw it, Chris knew exactly what to do.

We discovered that Chris has some amazing resources which he has cultivated over the years, so when he suggested we refinish our floors, he also recommended a craftsman whose work he knew was top-notch. This was a critical decision as we had refinished our floors many years earlier and knew there was only enough wood left to withstand one last sanding. Chris' man did the job with spectacular results.

Chris also recommended a stager, with whom he had previously worked, and she was equally impressive. She suggested a number of renovations, including painting and new light fixtures, which she chose. The final result was very dramatic.

Prior to any of this, once we calculated that the renovations and staging were going to cost about $25,000, we wanted to test the market to determine what we might get for the house in its current condition. Chris listed the property "exclusively" for a short period and that brought us a single offer that we felt was rather low. Chris was very confident we would get a good return on our investment if we renovated and staged.

He developed a strategy from start to finish, which he carefully explained, that included an opening price that was $90,000 more than the single offer we had previously received. Using marketing brochures, web tours and other tools he produced, he was able to generate enough interest to create a bidding war. On the second day after listing on MLS, we sold for $46,000 over asking. That $25K investment yielded a profit of over 440%.

The quick sale had a slightly surreal quality, as though Chris had written a short play and all the participants were simply following the script when performing their respective roles. We were very impressed with Chris' knowledge of the market and strategic prowess.
As a bonus, he's also one of the most relaxed and pleasant professionals we've met, with a great sense of humour and a real zest for life. We can't recommend him too highly.

Chris was referred to us through a friend who knew we were going to be putting our condo on the market and he came highly recommended. As this was the first time ever for us to go through the process of selling a condo, we were very pleased with the time and effort Chris put into preparing us for the sale of the unit, organizing a stager, answering all of our questions and determining the best strategy for sale given the current market. I was very impressed when after our first meeting, we had a booklet delivered to our door that contained background info including all of the comparables in our building for the last several months. Very helpful!

As for the sale, we couldn't have asked for a better result; a very quick sale for well over the asking price with the least amount of personal disruption possible. The selling strategy that Chris proposed, based on the very specific market for our building/area, played out beautifully. We were particularly pleased to learn that a unit the same as ours with superior flooring and a bigger balcony sold for less than ours did just a few days later.

My fiancé met Chris a few years ago and he always told me we should be using him if we ever wanted to sell our condo and buy a home. Chris had struck him as a very honest and decent person who would genuinely care about getting us a home we truly loved.

This year we finally decided to take the plunge and get a home. We called Chris and the following day he met with us to walk us through the process and ask us about the type of home we were envisioning. Even though we didn’t have a good idea ourselves of what we wanted, Chris was able to pull things from the conversation to start putting the picture together. For example, we have dogs so he knew we would want green space close by; we are getting married so we may want a few extra bedrooms for kids down the road; things like that.

Shortly after our initial meeting, Chris started getting other balls rolling for us. He got us a stager for our condo on his own dime and she really helped us to maximize the potential of our very small space. He also started sending us listings of places that might meet our needs and showing us different neighbourhoods to consider.

If you can believe it, within a month of our first phone call to Chris, he had sold our place for more than $10,000 over asking and had found us the place of our dreams for well within our budget. For that reason alone, I would highly recommend using Chris but the real value Chris brought for me was the time and attention he invested in us. I always thought buying and selling a home would be a very stressful process but Chris found a way to take the pressure off us so we could just enjoy the ride.

I cannot wait to move into our new place. Chris and his family will definitely be amongst the first people we have over for dinner and drinks.

When my partner brought up the idea of buying a house, I was nervous. He had gone to the first time home buyers seminar hosted by Chris Dunlop, and I hadn't. I had talked with friends about their experiences buying homes and I was intimidated by all the real estate jargon I didn't understand. I just wasn’t in my comfort zone, handing over a bunch of money we don't really have!!

When we met with Chris the first time, he went over all those new words for me, but most importantly he understood how excited and nervous I was about the whole process. Right away I could tell he had seen my blank stare on plenty of past clients. He took the pressure off the process by assuring us it would be fun and letting us know there are no stupid questions. Leaving our first meeting that night I knew we would get along great with Chris, he is so calming, understanding and friendly.

We went out with Chris a few times to look at homes, and it was a lot of fun! Not only did we get to check out some people’s questionable decor and have a good laugh, but we also learned a lot about what to look for beyond the obvious. Even when it seemed like we would be looking forever, Chris let us know he would go out with us as many times as necessary to ensure we found the right home. On our third trip we found a house we loved and ended up buying. But while we were falling in love with it, Chris had a good way of keeping us in check and focused. The night we got the house, was a surreal blur. And at that moment we knew Chris was in charge. Pointing to were we had to sign and smiling at our shocked faces.

Through the whole experience I always felt safe and comfortable with Chris. His humour is certainly unique and we blended very well together. He has a great ability to read the situation and people in it, and always stays within the comfort zone of his clients. I would (and have) recommend him wholeheartedly, and especially to first time home buyers. Lesley, Chris’ client care coordinator was also always a great help, and didn't even laugh at me when I signed all the papers in the wrong spot!

After 5 years of renting, I decided to educate myself and look at the possibility of buying a place. By doing so, I went to several home buying seminars that were offered for 1st time buyers. After attending Chris and Mary's seminar, I was instantly convinced that I would go for them. I was living and working in Toronto at that time.

Then my work moved to Mississauga. As I decided to start looking to buy a place, I contemplated whether I should still get Chris or look for a local agent in the city. I got in touch with Chris and fortunately for me, he is also familiar with the Missisauga area so he officially became my agent.

I am really happy with my decision to get Chris. I know that buying the first home is a stressful and scary process but he made it easy for me. He was approachable and was always available. He was very patient in answering my never-ending questions. He understood all my needs. For each house we looked at, he even tried to picture myself and my daughter living in it. He also gave very useful information about each house which helped me during the decision making process.

Then, I decided to make an offer for a townhouse in a sought-after complex in Mississauga. Chris strategically worked on it and we ended up getting the house for a super super low price (whom a lot of people I told about couldn't even believe!). So much lower than the lowest sold price in the complex. I was in high spirits!

My daughter and I are now living in the townhouse and we couldn't be happier. We have a nice home in a great complex, and we got it for a really good price. Thanks to Chris! And his services didn't end there. He still keeps in touch and has been available to answer questions even after sales.

Chris Dunlop was our first real-estate agent, and after comparing notes with other 1st-time buyers we know, we can't believe how lucky we were.
While our friends were left scratching their heads, wondering what they were paying their agents for, Chris really delivered for us. He did a great job of understanding what we needed from our home, and helped us tailor our search accordingly. He provided us with as much or as little information as we wanted, and when we toured properties for sale, Chris gave us lots of valuable input. Ranging from the investment potential of the property, to whether the electrical systems were likely up-to-code, to the relative prevalence of termites in the area and everything in-between, Chris volunteered tons of critical information. During the Thanksgiving long weekend, my boyfriend and I got word of a private sale in our neighbourhood, we were not sure what to do and didn't feel comfortable without an agent. We needed someone to help us put together and offer, negotiate a fair price and help us understand the process. We called Chris and much to our surprise, he offered to meet us within a couple of hours. A few short months ago, we lived in a dilapidated and neglected apartment building with minimal heat, occasional hot water, mice and surprisingly high rent. Today, we own a modern one bedroom condo in the downtown core. We owe this incredible change in our lives primarily to Chris Dunlop and his talented team.

Like many other people, we didn't think we could afford to buy a home, let alone someplace we might actually want to live in. Chris' first time home buyers seminar opened our eyes to a whole world of options and gave us a realistic perspective of what we could afford and what was available. I left home on a Sunday to look for a minivan, stopped in at an open house, and fell in love with the house - but bids were due by 8 pm Monday. Thanks to Chris, in less than 24 hours we had a home inspection completed and mortgage financing approved, and were able to submit a clean offer. Our offer was accepted and within an hour after the offer was presented, we knew that we had won the bidding process. In essence, we bought a home in less than 24 hours, start to finish!

My wife and I commenced our search for our first home in the summer of 2006 and we started working with Chris to help us out in our endeavour. Once we had narrowed down a location (in Whitby) and gave Chris some parameters, he quickly started doing his research and providing us with excellent information and other insight to help us along the way.

As a first time homebuyer I was both excited and terrified at the prospect of starting this new chapter in my life. I had visions that it would be a fun, thrilling ride with my agent there to guide me through all the pit falls of first time buying. However, that is not how my story started. Sadly, that is because, the first real estate agent I used was not Chris Dunlop. I can whole-heartedly say that it was a terrible experience. I felt rushed at viewings and was heavily pressured to make offers on places before I felt ready to do so. I finally felt that it was important to make a fresh start. However I was so demoralized by that time that I thought finding a conscientious, dedicated real estate agent would be a difficult to borderline impossible task.

As a first time buyer it was important that I had an agent who would take the time to work through the purchasing process with me, who would not pressure me into hasty bids and most importantly it was important for me to have an agent who would be prepared to make an exhaustive search for my dream home. When I was beginning to think about getting a realtor to help me find a condominium, Chris Dunlop was recommended to me by a friend. It was the best recommendation I've ever received.

I suppose I can't give him 100 per cent of the credit for the fact that I found my dream condo on the first day we went viewing together; luck definitely played a part. But I can give him all the credit for coaching me through the stressful bidding process, and for keeping my spirits up when things looked bleak. At a time when it looked as though my property was going to another buyer, Chris emphasized that he'd work with me as long at it took for me to find another place that felt like home. I'm sure this is his approach with every client, and I don't believe it's a line. I have to chime in on Chris. He was my agent when I sold my old condo and purchased a
new one. He’s refreshingly forthright, incredibly insightful, and stupefyingly honest.
Point worth noting: After I left my old building, seven units went up for sale. Only one
sold (that spring). Chris represented that unit.

He might not be the second coming, but he’s likely Jesus’ realtor for the second coming.

Moving across the country is a lot of work. You would think that I would have expected
this… but I think that I sometimes still inhabit that Star Trek world where I believe that
the replicator, the transporter and Jean-Luc will take care of everything. Well, it turns

As a first time home buyer, when it came to the buying process, I knew little more than what type of place I was looking for, where I'd like to find it and how much I was able to pay. At least I realized how little I knew. That realization put me in the market to find a real estate agent.
